El Cerrito

Welcome to El Cerrito (translates to 'The Fifth Little Hill') and was designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti, definitely one of those classics of the modernist movement any fan of modern design should get to know. The home was originally built for the Planchart family and is also known as Villa Planchart. It sits on a hilltop in El Cerrito in Caracas, Venezuela. Though the house was completed in 1956, i can't image it will ever be out of syle!

There was no forgetting the ceiling in this home, I love the selection of colors pale blue with yellow and white stripes.

Check the stair detail so clean and seamless, but incredibly functional, you could swiffer right down those stairs!

thank you apartment therapy for digging this classic up!

Weekend Flip

BEFORE

AFTER

This weekend my new accomplice and neighbor Julie and I conquered a cute mid-century desk. As we took the drawers out and began to clean and prepare for hours of sanding. We found some hidden treasures that maybe the previous or first owner had lost: a beaded necklace, tax returned from 1977 and letter from her attorney and this book The N
egro in The Civil War printed in 1938:

Flipping through the pages of the book I found this photograph inside.

Ink Calender Oscar Diaz

This is great!

An ink calender made of paper and calculated to accurately count the days in the month, the ink takes a full day to absorb into the paper number then continues, if this isn't the coolest installation of a time tracker I don't know what is!

Silver Lake Cottage

I always get excited when I see new projects in my neighborhood.

Silver Lake is a cute hillside community adjacent to Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles, in the early 1900's it many people who lived in Los Angeles would build small summer cabins and spend the weekend in the hills hunting and fishing. Now years later with more population and homes its a gem to find an original cabin.

Check out this Silver Lake cottage makeover absolutely adorable!

Crystals French Cottage Fairy Tale

Crystal is a 6-year old big sister of 2 baby brothers, she needed her room to be a girls only sanctuary to be fun and playful, and also hold the ability to grow with her into those teen years.

home design office

Hello and welcome to my cozy little home workspace!

On an ity bity budget IKEA goes a long way, my new favorite the Jonas Desk it has a secondary work-surface that pulls out to create an L -shaped desk. When I am done or want to tighten up I simply push it under. Perfect for my tight little nook!

The two shelves above are strong and sturdy a great home for all my fabric + solid samples, swatch books, or what ever else I dream to store at easy reach.

The chair was a very fortunate yard sale find that I owe all credit to my boyfriend for! It is a vintage Herman Miller Eames original green leather upholstered swivel chair (1969). So comfortable and in such beautiful condition.

I love my IKEA bookcases and as you can see I have no issue filling them, I am avoiding the truth that soon I will outgrow them! The prints on the wall are buy artist Ernesto Yerena.

Fawn+Forest

A drizzly grey Friday afternoon was full of nursery inspiration searching, and in my list of favorites I re-remembered Fawn+Forest  one of my favorite places to shop and gather ideas for the littlest clients! Check out some of the this I pulled for the Nursery design!

I just love the bright yellow paired with white and plum. So clean, so crisp, so perfect for baby!

This convertible crib is a great piece you save in buying a little bed once baby grows out of the crib and its still stylish, modern, and eco friendly!

They have a wonderful selection of art, most pieces are really great because they fit nicely in a baby's room and do not need to be replaced when baby is a teenager.

I found this screen printed animal alphabet.

I love their adorable selection of book ends this snail and elephant would just look perfect sandwiching fairy tales and nursery rhymes on stained wood shelf.
